The Internet is full of management sims, from sports to business, there’s no shortage of games for you management fans out there. So what makes a sport manager simulation special? Well we take a look at one of the more promising manager sims, PowerPlay Manager.

The game offers a variety of sports to take up a management roll with including Soccer, Hockey, Basketball and Formula racing as well as future updates promising Volley Ball, Baseball and Tennis. For the most part of this review we will be focusing on the Soccer part of PowerPlay Manager.

As your start your managerial career, you get to choose your team and stadium name as well as having a quick chat with the director. Once you’ve created your Soccer team you’re introduced to your squad of future Wembley winners. You are given a standard roster size of 22 players to begin with, all with unique names and individual attributes. Each player is ranked in a total of 10 attributes including things like shot power and speed.

Once you’ve had a brief introduction with your players you’re free to customise the rest of your squad including adding a custom kit and badge design using either a provided template tool or doing the entire design yourself. Now that you have expressed all your artistic nature, we can move onto the game itself.

Fixtures are automatically arranged and provided via an in game calender which allows you to always know exactly when your team is playing and get the chance to scout your opponents for possible weaknesses. The match engine is about what you expect from a browser management sim, you listen from a spectators point of view as you see the commentary lay out in front of you as the game progresses. During and after the game you have full access to a large variety of on pitch statistics from ball possession to targeting their defender on bad form, all the tools are supplied for you to be able to make that killer management decision that could edge the game in your favour.

Captain Camper earned his super powers after smashing his head into a 1980s arcade machine after losing 10 straight games at Pong. The electrical surge caused by his head penetrating the screen altered the electro-chemical balance of his brain, changing the rate at which his body developed and giving him super human strength.

He now uses his powers to offer gamers superior gaming guides. Hoping to avoid the nerd rage that caused his unfortunate accident with the arcade machine.
