Darksiders 2: War Boss Fight Guide

Slightly more formidable than your last Boss Fight, War has a number of abilities and they hurt. The main ability you want to avoid is the ground smash that causes AoE damage. This is unavoidable at close range so you want to look for the signs to avoid it. If you’re at medium range, he will run at you wish his weapon on his back and jump in the air, this is when you want to time your dodge. Ensure you’re locked on so you can dodge effectively. After he uses this ability, he’s open to attack for a brief few seconds, this is where you want to do your damage. His other attacks are basic combinations, most of which will begin as he turns his back towards you, so dodge at about that time.

Part way through the fight you’ll enter a small cut-scene where you will need to mash a certain button in order to survive. Again, this is relatively easy and shouldn’t cause you any problems. After the cut-scene War is launched into the air leaving him vulnerable 1-2 seconds after he hits the ground. You can easily unleash a full combination before he parry’s your attack. Once he is back up his AoE ability changes slightly as it launches in a cone in front of him. If you’ve got over half health, you should just be able to go toe to toe with him before he can kill you.
