fire emblem chapter 11 map Fire Emblem: Awakening Guide – Chapter 11: Mad King Gangrel GuideImportant Unlocks:

  • Items Unlocks: Chests are strewn throughout the level holding powerful items. Bring a Thief/Trickster in your party to unlock them.
  • Boss Items: The Boss, Gangrel will drop a Dragonstone and a really nice sword.
  • XP/Weapon XP Unlocks: There will be some shinning spots on the ground like in every level. Nothing of real value on these spots. Don’t go out of your way.

Your forces will start at the top of the map. There is a ton of enemies in King Grangrel’s Army. Most of them will be at the bottom of the map, but some of them will be to the left and right about 10 squares from your front lines. I recommend splitting up into two different sets of forces for each set of 5 enemies that you have set below you. Make sure you have healers with you on both sides of your line. At the start of the match there will be a dialog between Chrom and the King. Then Olivia will join your party.

Start making your way down. After aggroing the first set of 5 enemies on both the right and the left you will notice some chests. If you don’t get a chest key from the enemies, a thief or trickster will be able to open these chest and grant some items. There are also a couple of Thief characters on the map that will open the chest and try to run away with the goods. Cut them off with one of your faster characters to make sure that the goods are yours.

After a couple of turns reinforcements will show up at the empty forts located to the left of your original spawn. Your going to want to keep a strong character in the back of the line as well as the front so that these enemies don’t track you down. Make sure to keep moving forward however, as you don’t want more reinforcements coming in.

Eventually you will make your way down far enough so that the King Gangrel will attack you. He has a sword that shoots lightning and does damage based off of magic. Use one of your strongest characters to go head to head with him. Also make sure to have some back up with a strong relationship. He is a little tougher than some of the other boss characters of the pass so just be careful. When you beat him you get his sword and a Dragonstone. 2 very good items to have.

After he is dead you can turn your focus on loot and the rest of the enemies. Know that there will be more reinforcements coming in the form of two Dragon Wyvern Riders. Just make sure to keep some healers handy and you should be just fine. Clear the rest of the enemies and you will have completed Chapter 11 in Fire Emblem: Awakening!

I hope that this guide helped you complete Chapter 11 in the best way possible. I’m currently on this chapter in Hard Mode, Classic. I finally managed to secure the forts and kill all the original units that move. It is currently turn 9 and the reinforcements are still coming. If/When they stop, then I can make my final push and kill the rest of the units. Here’s what I did:

I sent Lon’qu (any fast sword-user would work) and Thorja (any ranged person to pair up) to the forts on the left, and stood them on the southernmost of the three. They took care of all of those forts’ reinforcements and got the Speed Wing. I sent Miriel/Virion to the southeast, Miriel holding a Superior Jolt to kill all those mages and stand on a fort, along with Gaius/Me so that Gaius could stand on the other southeastern fort and then eventually take that chest. I placed Nowi/Donnel on the shiny fort in the center. Lastly (Well, this is actually what I did first) I paired up Sumia/Chrom and sent them southwest with the help of Olivia’s dance. With Sumia to fly far and Chrom to jump in and help her kill the enemies, they wiped out the Hero and all those units and stood on the southwest fort. Once all those forts were secure, I was safe.

Now I’m going to find out what turn reinforcements stop coming and plan my final push.

Ok, a followup: the reinforcements stop coming at turn 10! That’s what I came to this article to find out, but it didn’t say in the article. I finally managed to survive long enough to find out for myself.

Chrom married Sumia after i finished this chapter and idk why or how i got them too if anyone can tell me that would be great

Basically chrom marries whoever he has the greatest support with after this chapter, so that’s why.

This level is brutal on Hard Mode. I’m fine until the fourth turn, where I always lose exactly four units. Might try sending my more vulnerable forces to cut off the reinforcements to the west, using a force led by my Grandmaster to attack the main army.

Sounds like a possible strategy. The only way I was able to clear it without anyone dying was by moving forward super slowly and having a couple of strong people in the back for those reinforcements. If it works out for you let us know!
