The Witch and the Hundred Knight Preview
Games with choice usually put players in some sort of morally gray area, but what about titles where you’re already in cahoots with the bad guy? NIS America’s upcoming The Witch and the Hundred Knight does just that — unlike those wishy-washy heroes, you’ve already got your sights on something more sinister.
In a world as ambiguous as the one in The Witch and the Hundred Knight, there are two absolutes: your rival and your sheer power. A battle 100 years in the making, the Swamp Witch Metallia’s fight against the Forest Witch has come to a head. But she’s got a secret weapon: the ever-powerful Hundred Knight.
How you decide to control the Hundred Knight, however, is up to you. Crushing your rival and destroying the Pillars in The Witch and the Hundred Knight’s hack-n-slash setting takes top priority, but your off hours could be spent saving the innocent and making the world a better place. Conversely, you can also be a total jerk that pillages villages, causes mayhem, and gives witches worldwide the bad name they so rightly deserve.
To aid you on your quest for philanthropy/vengeance, a melee combat system that relies on chain attacks comes into play. Utilizing a five-hit combo system that rewards offensive play, its selection of multiple equippable weapons and play styles help you to personalize your warrior as you see fit.
So what will you do with the Hundred Knight? That’s up for you to decide when The Witch and the Hundred Knight hits the PS3 on March 25, 2014 in the United States and March 21, 2014 in Europe.
