Tecmo Koei’s Dead or Alive series of fighters might have solid mechanics, but there’s no denying the gameplay plays second fiddle to its ladies — otherwise we’d have an all-male version of Xtreme Beach Volleyball. With Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate on the horizon, we take a look at one of the finer cosplays of the series — a spot-on recreation of the cover-girl Kasumi.

Ukraine cosplayer Sofia “Grellka-LOLI” Zubko’s captures the likeness of the redheaded ninja Kasumi perfectly with this cosplay. While she has done a number of other cosplays (like Final Fantasy’s Onion Knight), but her DoA pictures stand out the most. • Note 1: After meeting with the captain like dude you will have to follow Anna the sniper. Before going up the elevator look on the chair just to the right of the elevator.

• Note 2: After climbing on top of the train and exiting you will have to go up some stairs. Go to the end of the hallway and burn the spider webs with your lighter. The note will be by a dead body on the right.

• Note 3: After getting three throwing knives from the dead hanging man look around the room for some boxes. There will be a note sitting on top of the boxes.

• Note 4: At the beginning of the chapter look for a desk just in front of where you start. There will be a note on a desk.

• Note 5: There will be a battle scene between some dog like things and the sniper shooting down over you. Look for a building next to this arena like area. On the second story of the building there will be a page for you to collect.
• Note 6: Eventually you will come across someone who will surrender as soon as he sees you. Look on his desk in his room to find a note sitting on it.

• Note 7: Towards the end of this section you’ll need to flip a switch to activate a lift. Look around after clearing the enemies and there will be a small room off to the side of the path that has a desk. The note will be on the desk of this room.

• Note 8: After going on top of the metro train look for a skeleton on the right. There will be a diary page sitting next to the skeleton.
• Note 9: Right when you are given the task to charge a power station you will be separated from Pavel. During this section there is a ton of the nasty spider things. Right after leaving Pavel look for a dead body on the left that has a page of the diary sitting on it.

• Note 10: At the start of this chapter you should be able to see a bar. The note will be on the left side of the bar from the start of the mission.
• Note 11: Fix Pavel’s mask after he has a flashback on the creepy plane. Check directly to the right of Pavel and there will be a page of the diary on the ground.

• Note 12: Directly after getting into the chapter Pavel will tell you to go enjoy yourself while he meets with some contacts. Directly after going through a little curtain thing there will be a page on your left.
• Note 13: Just before going into the theater there will be a page on a bench right next to the entrance.

I won’t pretend to be the biggest fan of the Metro franchise although I’m well aware of the depth and innovation involved in the official books as well as the fan writings that surround the franchise. However, even the very best stories can fall short if they don’t adapt to the very latest in game mechanics. The universe of Metro continues to prove popular in various forms of media but does it have the legs to be a true gaming franchise or are we looking at a 1-2 fail?

The opening few minutes of Metro: Last Light attempts to educate the player on the previous happenings in the original game. Many popular franchises today are opting to avoid continuing storyline’s, such as our Game of the Year The Walking Dead from TellTale and Bioshock Infinite have taken storytelling to whole new heights in recent months but Metro: Last Light can compete in its own right.

I cannot remember the last time I experienced a story with such depth. The developers have put more effort into portraying the events from the Metro universe than they have any other aspect of the game and in certain regards, it pays off. Even in the first few towns and areas there are literally home to 15-20 minutes of conversations that have nothing to do with the progression of the game. I quite often found myself straying from the beaten path purely to listen to the experiences and feelings of those that inhabit the Metro game world and it really gives the player a feeling of passion towards those around them.

The only really negative aspect to spending large amounts of time speaking to random characters are the animations themselves. The lip syncing is about as basic as you can get and you can easily spot the same animation used for very different sounding words and a few of the cut-scenes totally destroy any feeling of immersion as characters pick up floating objects that don’t actually register as being held in the hand.

Despite the lackluster animations the game manages to deliver a highly engaging post-apocalyptic atmosphere with attention to detail both below and above ground. I didn’t really feel the textures were up to par with today’s games, especially on the characters and NPC’s but the attention to detail cannot be faltered.

However, Metro: Last Light didn’t manage to keep me engaged for long because the FPS mechanics seemed stale and out-dated. It’s not to say they’re bad, in actual fact they’ve been refined to near perfect but there was just nothing new, nothing pushing the box. The hit detection is flawless, the animations and designs of the weapons were great and the gun customization system was basic but enough to actually provide alternate options in battle. But even with this near-perfect package, I just didn’t feel like I was ever doing anything other than chasing a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. Going through cut-scene, fight, cut-scene, plot-twist, I felt like I needed something to break up the grind a little bit.

Retracting further from the FPS experience, is the lackluster AI. The enemies just rush to the end of your gun barrel as quickly as they can and the great stealth mechanics are quite often ruined by astonishing human feats as enemies see you through a solid surface. The stealth mechanics are without a doubt the better option as I crept through the oppressive atmosphere, disabling light bulbs and exposing my enemies to sure death in their dark surroundings, but the satisfying feeling of almost accomplishing the perfect stealth approach was often cut-short after an enemy found you in an impossible place.

I think fans of the original game, and those that enjoy the background story of the Metro universe will thoroughly enjoy those parts of the game. But for seasoned FPS players or for those still riding the high provided by recently released FPS games, I’d wait until the game drops a little in price before picking it up.

Call of Juarez this week produced some new assets for Wild West fans to oogle and oggle over. Also in the press release Ubisoft announced that players will be living out the greatest memories from the Old West including stories from Pat Garret, Jesse James and Butch Cassidy. According to Ubsisoft the game will feature a mixture of both myth and factual events from the wild west. Here is a trailer if you want to see a little bit more about the game.

Square Enix has an exclusive Pre-Order deal for the release of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix is a compilation of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Square Enix says that the games have been severely updated with cinematic story videos from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and will have some upgraded gameplay mechanics. The Pre-Order will include a special 24-page behind-the-scenes-look at the Kingdom Hearts franchise. The game will be available for the PlayStation 3 on September 10th.

OK, so before I get into this, I like to not really take sides during the “news” section of our site. That being sad, the two copyright holders of Nyan Cat and Keyboard Cat are suing the WB and 5th Cell Entertainment for using their characters in their Scribblenauts game. Before launching hate at these people for suing WB let’s think about WHAT WB does as a publisher of video games and movies. When people put up anything from WB they take it down and send threatening notices all the time. It’s about time they had a little taste of their own medicin. More power to the copyright holders of Nyan Cat and Keboard Cat in my opinion.

Capcom is pulling out all of the stops with the latest Resident Evil title called Revelations. Resident Evil Revelations is a re-released HD version of the game that came out on the 3DS last year. Recently Capcom has released a new Wii U trailer along with a couple of Dev Diary webisodes. Check out all three videos below right here or on our YouTube channel.

Square Enix has released brand new screenshots for Final Fantasy X-2 HD Remastered. The screenshots show off different character models as well as some of the upgrades they will be doing to the background textures and enviornment. Nothing really special here, just FFX2 looking better than it did before. Check em out.

More and more information about Watch_Dogs from Ubisoft seems to be coming out every day. This past week Ubisoft released some amazing looking screenshots from the upcoming game. If these screenshots are really from the game it looks as though they are nextgen/pc quality. Take a look for yourself.

Hitman: Sniper Challenge, the demo that released when you preordered Hitman: Absolution from Gamestop, and Gyromancer are now free to play on Core Online, Square Enix’s online platform that allows players to play games in their browser. Now these games come with a little bit of a drawback. You can only play them for free for 20 minutes a day with advertisments. If you like the list of games you can pay a subscription fee of $2.99 a month to get unlimited access to all games or you can buy the games outright and play them in your browser, advertisment free, forever. It’s an interesting service but so far there isn’t to much really offered. Here is the games that are available right now.

Probably the biggest news from last week was the announcement that EA is now going to be an exclusive publisher for Star Wars games. Now before anyone gets all huffy and puffy with EA and before anyone freaks out lets just calm down. This means that EA will be able to license out the Star Wars franchise to a bunch of different developers and could be a good thing for the Star Wars games. Can you image Bioware making a Star Wars game like Mass Effect? Yes EA has done some crappy things in the past (see SimCity) but that doesn’t mean that ANYTHING EA is always terrible. It’s ok. Everything will be fine. If things don’t go fine, then hey, maybe EA will go under. NNNAAAHHH We give them our money anyways!

Telltale Games has given franchises like Back to the Future and The Walking Dead the video game treatment, but what if King of the Hill got its own point-and-click adventure? Wonder no more: Fox Interactive Media has beaten Telltale to the punch with their own re-creation of Arlen, Texas.

Based off of the (cancelled) Fox TV show, the King of the Hill video game places you in the role of the new neighbor on the block during its annual Fourth of July celebration. You might not be fighting off zombies (or even working at Strickland Propane), but there are 20 different minigames available ranging from Peggy Hill’s “Tic-Tac-Toss” to Dale Gribble’s “Texas Huntin’” paintball course, made completely from scratch in his own backyard. Those who wish to explore the area can also chat with the townsfolk, including such stimulating topics as Bill Dauterive’s ex Lenore and Bobby Hill’s thoughts on fruit pies.

Want to pick up the game for yourself? It has yet to receive a Steam release, but sealed copies can be found on Amazon for $245.
