Final Fantasy 15 Weapon Upgrade Mod Guide

Final Fantasy 15 Weapon Upgrade Mod Guide
Final Fantasy XV features unique weapons that you can discover and upgrade. This Final Fantasy 15 Weapon Upgrade Mod Guide tells you where to find these unique weapons, what items you need to improve them and other useful details.

Only certain, special weapons can be upgraded. These can be easily identified by a small yellow icon next to the weapon in the item & equip screens. When you begin the game you start with the Engine Blade, that is one of the weapons that you’re able to upgrade.

Did you know there is only 1 sniper rifle in FFXV? And, it rocks!

Once you’ve got all the upgradeable weapons be sure to move on to the 5 legendary weapons before completing the 8 hidden dungeons in FFXV.

Final Fantasy 15 – How To Upgrade Weapons

Don’t just settle for the best weapons! Make sure you craft yourself Limit Break Magic that can do over 9999 damage.

You cannot upgrade weapons until you progress through the story. You will find a Drain Lance during the mission where you return to the city after you hear about the events that occurred while you have been away. You cannot miss the Drain Lance. A prompt will tell you to speak with Cid to upgrade weapons in the future. From this point on you can speak with Cid at the Hammerhead stop to upgrade any weapons you have obtained that feature the upgrade icon.

When you speak with Cid and have an item to upgrade you’ll get a quest to find a certain item. Below is a list of weapons and the items you need to upgrade them. If you are unable to give Cid your items there’s a good chance he is already working on one for you. After completing a few side quests or hunts be sure to rest at a campfire and eventually you’ll get a call. You may also want to double check you’ve got the item he needs.

Different items take different lengths of time so if you’re wondering how long do I have to wait a basic technique should work for you. Do 1-2 side quests, a couple of hunts and then rest at an inn, camp in the morning for our fast exp leveling method and repeat. This usually gets all weapons upgraded within a few days.

  • Bri Anderson

As a note, purely by accident, I came across a cactaur as a natural spawn at Longwythe Peak… it was at 8 AM so time seems to matter.

  • Aretha Cairn

If you miss any of the story ones, like the Circular Saw or the Gravity Well, how do you reaquire them?

    • brodie

I just went back to the location to get the Gravity Well. can’t speak to whether you can do the same for the circular saw

      • Aretha Cairn

Sure but I also literally ment like, all of the old ones in the fort. But I assume all 3 forts are still open so it should be good

        • Yeah, all 3 forts remain open. Some good exp spots in some of them too. Happy hunting 😀

          • Aretha Cairn

Levelling in this game is a joke. You get to lvl 50 pretty naturally and then you just use Expericast magic until you get 1 million and then rest at the 3x hotel and you’re done, boom, level 99. Its fuckin stupid XD

    • You fight the same guy later in the game so if you haven’t done so already, you can probably get it from him then

  • Aretha Cairn

Also you can aquire a Magitek Core from the Stealing the Past sidequest.

    • I’ve looked everywhere for that quest but can’t find it. Where does it begin?

      • Aretha Cairn

Oh shit, I get to help the writer! =D So, you find the quest in Lestallum, at nighttime, by walking around the windows and trying to find one of the ones you can “examine”, you’ll eavesdrop on a few ex-hunters/thieves talking about a “Great treasure in Ravatagh”. I cant tell you exactly where but it was somewhat on the eastern side, I THINK. Dont hesitate to check everywhere though

      • ImperfectXIII

The Magitek Core is just outside the entrance to the Pitioss Ruins. You need the Regalia Type-F in order to reach it.

  • Kappa Nii-chan

You can get the Magitek Core from the Forthmouth Garrison quest. One of the last 2 bosses (the two mecha thingys that looked like the one that Loci rode)
dropped the core, i don’t know what i destroyed but after I defeated the bosses, the core dropped.

  • Kappa Nii-chan
  • Ronnie Solbakken

Magitek Core is nice in that it’s worth 25000 Gil, so if you manage to get more of them, you can sell them to get rich. 🙂 But don’t sell them (or any items for that matter) until you know they’re no longer needed for anything.

  • Hardish Panesar

I sold my drain lance and I can’t initiate Cid Sophiar, Master Mechanic – what can i do!???
