Call Of Duty: Black Ops
Call of Duty: Black Ops launched to wide critical acclaim in 2010 and quickly became one of the best selling first-person shooters of our generation. Developed by Treyarch, Call of Duty: Black Ops is the seventh addition to the award-winning franchise and the first set during the infamous era of the Cold War. The fifth Call of Duty title to embrace the technology of World War II was quick to impress with over 5.6 million copies sold in the first 24 hours. Less than two months after release Activision announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops had earned over $1 billion in global sales, totaling over 25 million copies.
Even with future additions to the franchise it appears the Call of Duty IP is unstoppable. Despite floods of people expressing their hatred for the yearly release and lack of innovation in each game, there’s a far bigger community dedicated to purchasing each and every title that joins the franchise. Whether you love it or loath it, one cannot debate the success of arguably the most popular FPS in the history of gaming, and the Call of Duty era shows no sign of slowing.
