Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is the sequel to Deus Ex: Human Revolution and serves as the fourth main installment in the Deus Ex line of games. Set two years after the events of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided marks the return of Adam Jensen, who, following the events in Panchaea, finds himself in the middle of a conflict between augmented and non-augmented forces. With augmented people now being segregated and discriminated against in what is termed a “mechanical apartheid”, some of the augmented have chosen to fight back and have begun terrorizing the non-augmented. To counter this, Adam Jensen joins Task Force 29, an elite anti-terrorist group under the Interpol. Jensen doesn’t fully trust his superiors, however, and is secretly feeding information to the Juggernaut Collective: a group of hackers and vigilantes opposed to the superiority of the Illuminati. While navigating this political minefield, Adam Jensen travels across the world, from Dubai to Prague, to flush out the terrorists threatening the balance of power.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided‘s augmented protagonist Adam Jensen this time finds himself with brand new tools and weapons to counter foes both normal and augmented. These include the new Titan augmentation, which covers Adam in a heavy coat of armor, providing protection against projectiles. The PEPS, or Pulsed Energy Projection System, returning this time as an augmentation, allows Adam to throw enemies into their allies. Adam can now also use his arm-blades as a projectile weapon to shoot enemies with, and impale them.
As is tradition with the Deus Ex franchise, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided features a delicate balance between action and stealth, giving players the freedom to approach situations as they see fit. Conversation duels make a return, allowing Adam to talk down his opponents, bypassing the need for bloodshed and violence. The developers have also made action a focus for the title, making sure that combat is just as viable an option for players as stealth. The hacking mini-game also makes its return from Deus Ex: Human Revolution, this time made even deeper and more complex, requiring a higher level of skill. And as usual, choice and consequence remains at the heart of the Deus Ex experience, making sure that every action Adam takes will have its consequences.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is developed by Eidos Montreal and built on the powerful Dawn Engine, whose technology is based on the Glacier Engine 2, of Hitman: Absolution fame.
