FIFA 16 is the 2015 edition of EA Sports’ long-running FIFA series of football simulators, and features a realistic simulation of football, covering the latest teams and kits from the football world. FIFA 16 is notably the first FIFA game to feature female footballers, representing 12 national teams: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, and the United States. Players can choose to play friendly matches both online and offline, or engage in a tournament mode based on the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The game brings with it brings with it numerous improvements to the long-established franchise, including an increased control in midfield and new, improved defensive moves. The game features 78 stadiums, which includes 50 real-world venues. This includes Fratton Park, home of Portsmouth, added as a tribute to the former creative director of the FIFA series and Portsmouth fan, Simon Humber, who died on cancer in 2015.
FIFA 16 features FIFA Ultimate Team, a mode in which players can build their dream team by selecting from the greatest FIFA football stars of all time. An online community enables players to buy, sell or trade footballers, and players can choose to play both online against friends and offline in a singleplayer tournament mode. Players’ stats, scores and team standings are updated every week, making sure the Dream Team is as up-to-date as possible.
The Career Mode of this installment also includes with it a special Training mode, which can be used to increase footballers’ stats by having them participate in skill games. This way, the footballers can be developed without actually playing them. Players can choose to set specific attributes that the footballer will improve in, and developing footballers in this way also improves their transfer value, making them even more valuable.
New friendly enhancements allow players to pick a friendly tournament before a season starts, winning which allows the player to win a transfer budget boost. The player can also now get two-year loans, realistic transfer budget enhancements and improved player values.
EA Sports Football Club is the social side of the game, and features up to 100 levels to progress through and share with friends. Players can join live challenges and unlock in-game items. The challenges are driven by real world storylines, making FIFA 16 play like a real world season.
