South Park Stick Of Truth
South Park: The Stick of Truth is based on the animated series South Park and is developed by Obsidian Entertainment in collaboration with South Park Digital Studios, including considerable involvement by series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, who initiated the production to begin with and were responsible for writing the script, consulting for design and voicing many of the characters. The game was published by Ubisoft after its initial publisher, THQ ended up bankrupt.
The game follows the silent New Kid, nicknamed “Douchebag”, who has recently moved into the town of South Park and soon becomes involved in a role-play fantasy war with humans, wizards and elves, all fighting for control over the Stick of Truth, an adventure that takes place throughout the town, the surrounding forest and even into Canada. Soon, however, the group finds itself in conflict with the likes of aliens, Nazi zombies and gnomes. In his quest, the New Kid is aided by main characters from the series like Cartman, Butters, Stan and Kyle, although only one character may be active at any time. The game also features Timmy, who functions as a fast travel system. The game features a number of historical South Park characters such as Randy Marsh, Mr. Garrison, Mr. Mackey, Al Gore, Mr. Slave and so on, as well as locations like the South Park Elementary, South Park Mall, the Bijou Cinema, City Wok restaurant and Tweek Bros. Coffeehouse.
The New Kid uses melee, ranged and magic attacks in his role-play war, and earns experience points for winning battles as well as completing tasks, causing him to level up and earn new stats and abilities. The game’s magic is based on the New Kid’s ability to fart, and different farts perform specific tasks such, as farting to interact with a different object, destroy blockades, distract enemies, etc. Battles take place within a turn-based system, and allows players to summon characters like Jesus, Mr. Slave and Tuong Lu Kim.The player can also explore the game world to find Chinpokomon toys, or to find new friends who get added to the New Kid’s Facebook page. The Facebook page doubles as the game’s main menu and contains the inventory and quest journal. The game features a number of mini-games, such as tapping a button to defecate and then throw feces at enemies for a special status effect; or a make-over game in which the player character can be disguised as a girl.
