FIFA Player Packs and Loot Boxes Not Deemed Gambling in UK
The UK gambling watchdog has gone on record to say that it does not currently oversee the purchase of content like loot boxes and FIFA player packs.
The reason this decision has been made is due to there being no official way to monetize what is inside each of them.
According to them, these prizes have to be either money or have monetary value in order to fall under gambling legislation.
Despite this, Gambling Commission chief executive Neil McCarthur stated that there are “significant concerns” around children playing titles that contain elements of chance and expenditure.
