With E3 behind us, the slow summer months are now at hand. However, there are still some new games players can add to their collection. On that note, here are 5 games we’re looking forward to in July. Oh, and we won’t make you click through five pages to look at the entire list.
5 Games We’re Looking Forward to in July
Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 + 2
The super fighting robot Mega Man is back with the release of Capcom’s Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 + 2. Eight games are included, along with new modes like the new X Challenge mode, rare production art, catalogs of merchandise from the series, a playlist of commercials from days gone by, and more. We’re looking forward to playing each of these classic platformers once more.
Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 + 2 will come out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch on July 24.
Sonic Mania Plus
An expanded version of 2017’s Sonic Mania, SEGA’s Sonic Mania Plus is an expanded version of the game. Included in this one are new level transitions, the playable characters Ray the Flying Squirrel and Mighty the Armadillo, and an “Encore Mode” that features remixed Zones. We’re looking forward to experiencing this revised take on last year’s adventure.
Sonic Mania Plus will come out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on July 17.
The Banner Saga 3
After a successful Kickstarter campaign, Stoic and Versus Evil’s The Banner Saga 3 is set to come out in July. Inspired by Viking culture, this game includes new playable characters, deeper strategic combat, a score by Austin Wintory, and different climactic endings. We’re looking forward to diving into its world.
The Banner Saga 3 will come out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on July 24.
Shining Resonance Refrain
Developed by Media Vision and published by SEGA, Shining Resonance Refrain is the latest entry in the long-running Shining series. Battles take cues from Bandai Namco’s Tales series, featuring a lot of action. Players can also boost the “relationship level” between different characters. We’re looking forward to diving into this world and seeing where the story takes us.
Shining Resonance Refrain will come out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on July 10.
Octopath Traveler
Developed by Square Enix in collaboration with Acquire, Octopath Traveler sports an “HD-2D” aesthetic that combines sprites with polygonal worlds. Turn-based battles are the name of the game, featuring a number of elemental attacks and weapons. Each character also has a unique command that can be used when interacting with NPCs. We’re looking forward to diving into its world and getting immersed in its aesthetics.
Octopath Traveler will come out for the Nintendo Switch on July 13.
