Holding out to buy a Nintendo Wii U? You might be running out of excuses — based on certain financial reports, a Wii U price drop may be coming as soon as next month.
Based on a 2014 interview with Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, Nintendo will not drop the price of the Wii U until the next financial year. Quoted from a Q&A:
“Regarding Wii U, it is not easy to make a significant profit with the current units sold. The price reduction of the hardware in the overseas markets represents a large amount of our total expenditure for this fiscal year, but based on the premise that we will not make such a reduction in the next fiscal year, I think our business can operate without such a negative effect on our profitability.”
It should be noted that the next financial year begins next month, in March 2015.
