Atlas features an in-depth food and Vitamin system that poisons and otherwise effects you if you don’t maintain them properly. This Atlas Vitamin Guide explains the basics of the Vitamin mechanic in the game so you can keep all your relevant bars topped up and good to go.
Atlas takes many inspirations from ARK: Survival Evolved. There are tons of different types of food that you can scavenge, cook, find and buy, each offering different levels of food and hydration options. However, there’s the more detailed aspects, the Vitamins.
Atlas Vitamin GuideThe Vitamin system is displayed on the right side of the screen, in the lower right corner. This is where you see your health, stamina, weight, etc. At the very top of those bars is the Vitamin bar. There are 4 different types of vitamin intake you need to worry about.
Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin C and Vitamin D. Each different Vitamin level will drop as you explore, craft and perform other activities. If they drop too low, you will suffer penalties based on that particular Vitamin deficiency. However, you can also get Vitamin poisoning by eating too much of the same Vitamin. So, for example, if you spam berries as your food all day you will eventually be penalized for doing so.
Whenever you discover a food item, you can check its icon in your inventory. You will see a colored bar, this indicates which Vitamin that particular food contains. You want to ensure you eat a balanced selection of food so you don’t ignore a particular vitamin or eat too much of a particular vitamin.
