You can buy a house in Hateno Village, in the back area. There you will find some guys beating on a broken down house. Talk to them and say you will buy the house, the bald one with the headband is the boss. They will say something like 50k but then drop it down to 3k with 30 bundles of wood. The wood is easy, grab an axe and get to chopping. The Rupees might cause you some issues depending on how far you are in the game. My suggestion to everyone is to sell Gems and Stones. They are easily worth the most but can be a bit hard to find. You will have to hunt around the area for mineral nodes to bust down if you want to get extra rocks, bombs and the hammer work for this.
There is also a side quest you can do that will get you some free gems to sell. Go to the Dueling Peaks Stable and the guys in the back will tell you about a bandit hide out with treasure. If you follow the river south-east from the Stable you will run into a Shrine behind some rocks you can blow up. Head all the way down the river and climb up the cliff towards the water fall and you will find another rock you can blow up. Inside there are a few chests that each have gems inside. You can also blow up a second rock inside there to find a Flameblade.
