First you will want to go to Kakariko Village and have at least 100 Rupees. When you get to the Village, follow the path to the right and go up the hill to the Shrine. Go around and past the Shrine and head into the trees near there. Here you can either go left or go across the river, go left and you will see a plan like sac. Talk to the plant and it will reveal that is the Great Fairy. She needs 100 Rupees to gain her power back and to free herself from the plant. Hand over the Rupees and brace for impact, she’s coming out.

Now there are two main benefits to freeing her. The most important is that she will upgrade your armor with the materials you find in the world. The first upgrade is normally cheap and easy, but the second one takes materials that are harder to get. The big bonus to upgrading your armor twice is that you get a set bonus on them. Think of a Diablo, World of Warcraft or even Nioh set bonuses. This means having all of the same set, like the Hylian Set, means you get an extra bonus on top of the armor you get from the pieces. This will take while for you to unlock so don’t fret about it right away. The other benefit is the fairies. You can come up here and catch a few faeries who will bring you back to life when you die so you don’t get a game over.
