In Fire Emblem Fates you will constantly be on the lookout for new recruits to bring into your army. Some people you will get automatically but others you will have to earn. Check out this Fire Emblem Fates Character Recruitment Guide to get all the characters as you go!
You can get Mozu during the first Paralogue mission you get called “Tragic Start”. You need to get to her with your unit and talk to her. She is a really weak Villager unit that uses a spear. She starts off weak but thanks to hear Skill she has a lot of potential. Her skill gives her an increased chance to get stats up per level.
You get Hinoka back during Chapter 8 if you talk to her with your character. Hinoka has the Darting Blow Skill and it increases her chance to use a follow up attack when she initiates attacks.
Azama is a magic user that starts with heal, you get him if you recruit Hinoka. Azama has the skill Miracle and it will prevent him in dying in one shot(HP will drop to 1 in place of a lethal blow).
You can get Oboro during the Chapter 9 main story mission. After a turn in the battle Oboro and Hinata will both appear. You will need to take two turns in order to talk to both of them with your character. Oboro starts off with two Skills, Seal Defense and Swap. Seal Defense which reduces enemy defense after combat ad Swap which lets you switch places with an ally right next to you.
You get Hinata the same way you get Oboro. Hinata is a Samurai and he starts off with two Skills. He has Vantage, which allows him to strike first when his HP is below 50% and Duelist Blow, which gives you +30 Avo when you start combat with him.
You get Takumi during the chapter 10 Story mission. He is an archer and you will need to use Azura’s sing on him to have him join you. Takumi comes with +2 Skill and Quick Draw, which makes him do more damage when he initiates combat.
Reina is a Kinshi Knight, basically a Pegasus archer. You can get him during the Chapter 11 Story mission by talking to him with your character. He starts with Darting Blow and Camaraderie. Darting Blow gives him a higher chance to follow up when he initiates combat and Camaraderie heals up to 10% HP of units next to him.
When you get married to someone in Fire Emblems Fates, you will have a kid and that kid will eventually help you fight. The Child will be the second Paralogue Quest you will get and all you need to do is protect them. In order to get married you need to get a rank S support character that you can marry.
You can capture some enemy bosses to have them join you as well. You will need either to bring an Orichi or a Ninja to capture a unit. After that you will have to get them to join you at your prison in the camp. You cannot capture enemy units without having a prison built. During Chapter 14 you can capture the boss named Daniela.
This is from Paralogue Mission 15. In order to unlock it you will need to get Subaki to S rank with another character. I used Hinoka and Subaki to get the rank up. This is Subaki’s daughter and she is a Sky Knight like him. She starts with four skills, Rally Speed, Darting Blow, Air Superiority and Camaraderie. This mission is difficult so be sure to save before you try it.
Sophie is Silas’ daughter and you can get her when you get Silas married to someone. You will have to beat Paralogue mission 5 in order to unlock her. This is the same in on the Conquest side.
Mirdori is the daughter of Kaze. You will have to get him married in order to unlock the Paralogue mission 6 to recruit her. This is the same on the Conquest side.
Asugi is Saizo’s son so you need to get Saizo married. This mission is actually pretty rough if you are a low level so save before starting. If you can beat the mission, Asugi will join you.
You can get Mozu in both games. Mozu is a little bit tougher to get on Conquest because she will get attacked by the Faceless after 5 turns. I used my an Elise and Silas team to get down to her quick to protect her. After that I fought my way down with the rest and recruited her with my character.
You will find Nyx on the side of the map during the story mission for Chapter 9. Talk to Nyx with you character to recruit her. She is another mage with the Heartseeker skill.
Haitaka – You can capture the unit Kaitaka during the Chapter 9 Conquest mission. Bring your ninja and weaken the unit to capture him. Remember you need a Prison in order to capture.
Beruka will automatically join you during the Chapter 10 main story mission. Beruka is a Wyvern Rider and comes with the skills Strength +2 and Lunge, which allows you to switch places with a target that you attack. She is really powerful but takes a lot to level up.
Selena will automatically join you during the Chapter 10 main story mission. Selena is a Mercenary and comes with the skills Strong Riposte and Good Fortune. Strong Riposte increases the amount of damage you do when counter attacking and Good Fortune restores 20% of your HP at the start of your turn.
Camilla will automatically join you during the Chapter 10 main story mission. Camilla is a Malig Knight and comes with the skills Strength +2 and Lunge, which allows you to switch places with a target that you attack.
When you get married to someone in Fire Emblems Fates, you will have a kid and that kid will eventually help you fight. The Child will be the second Paralogue Quest you will get and all you need to do is protect them. In order to get married you need to get a rank S support character that you can marry.
You can get Keaton during the Chapter 14 story battle. He is very close to where you spawn in at. Use your character to walk over and talk to him. Keaton is a Wolfskin and he has the skills Beastbane and Odd Shaped. Beastbane lets you do more damage to beasts and Odd Shaped increases your damage on Odd-numbered turns.
Shura can be missed if you choose to kill him during Chapter 16. If you spare him he will join you as a level 2 adventurer. He has the skills Movement +1 and Locktouch so he can unlock doors and chests. I am not sure if sparing him is the right thing to do or not at the moment.
Sophie is Silas’ daughter and you can get her when you get Silas married to someone. You will have to beat Paralogue mission 5 in order to unlock her. This is the same in on the Birthright side.
Mirdori is the daughter of Kaze. You will have to get him married in order to unlock the Paralogue mission 6 to recruit her. This is the same on the Birthright side.
Zhara is the last named unit you will be able to capture. You can find Zhara during Paralouge mission 21. Zhara is another mercenary, weaken and capture.
