Most of the Idunn Apple’s are locked away in large chests that are sealed. To break the Seal you need to find Seals in the nearby area. Check the front of the chest to see glowing Seal symbols, you need to locate these same symbols in the nearby environment.
Below is a list of all the Idunn Apples we’ve discovered so far including information on how to solve each of the Seal Puzzles.
You can find the first Idunn Apple near the start of the game when you are hunting deer with your son. Head to the location marked above. The Seal Puzzle is easy.
Once you enter the Ruins progress through the area. Eventually you will reach a bridge where you must destroy two things to drop both sides of the bridge. Turn around and you’ll find the next Idunn Apple chest there. It’s hard to miss. The first two Seals are easy to locate. The third is a little tougher. Jump across the small gap in the bridge and look forward and to the left, you’ll see the final Seal behind some rubble.
You can find this one in the same area where you fight the second Troll. The fire one that is aided by poison throwing enemies. This one is slightly different. There are 3 bells that must be struck in quick succession. If a bell stops ringing, the Seal resets.
Two bells are above the chest, the other is next to where you fight the troll.
The 4th Idunn Apple chest can be found on an island. You need to progress through the story until you meet the World Serpent. Once you do, the water level at the lake lowers and you can explore more areas. Head to the island marked above. There is a wooden board you need to hit to lower the spikes covering the bells. Then strike the bells quickly, before the spikes reset.
The next Idunn Apple can be found on the island of Forgotten Caverns on the Lake of Nine. There’s a structure that has all three Seals on it, as you hit one it spins faster and faster. Hit them all to open the chest.
You can find this one in Alfheim once you open the Lake of Light and descend down. Before you turn the wheel to descend even further, you will see the box directly opposite the wheel. To get the R Seal turn the wheel until the opposite platform drops once, you will see it in the corner, as in the screenshot above. The C Seal is in the same place but on the same side as the wheel so you will need to drop down. The N type seal is behind the wheel on the other side. You need to lower the platform you’re standing on, freeze it then turn and jump up. There’s also a chest there.
In Alfheim there is a small island cove to the South West of the Light Tower. On this island there is a small wheel that opens a gate, but it quickly slams shut. Interact with the wheel and then instantly run for the gate to get through. The other side you will location another Idunn Apple chest. The Seals you need to hit are covered by if you face the chest, hit the targets at 11 o’clock, 3 o’clock and 6 o’clock.
This one is tough to miss. During the main story mission once you are inside the mountain. After you kill the dragon and unlock the explosive arrows. Progress through until you have to knock down a bridge with the explosive arrows. You’ll see the chest there. Cross the bridge and then raise it to get up to the upper level, the R Seal is there. The C Rune is next to the large wooden platforms opposite the bridge and the final N rune is back a short distance, in the room with a Shrine inside.
The final one can be found deep inside Tyr’s Vault. The story will take you through there. When you reach the second trapped area, take the North exit to the spike walls. The chest is at the end. The C rune is on the side of first trap, you can see it from the chest side. The R Seal is inside the room with the wheel, just before the chest. Search the East wall. The N Seal is on the other set of spike traps that go up and down. Check the first one, on the right hand side at the top.
