One of the many challenging and rewarding side activities in Horizon Zero Dawn are Bandit Camps. These are small towns that have been overrun by bandits offering challenge and reward for those brave enough to clear them out. This Horizon Zero Dawn Bandit Camps Guide tells you the location of each of the Bandit Camps we’ve discovered so far, the potential challenges within and any potential rewards for completing them.
There is a quest associated with this Bandit Camp. Check the location of Aloy on the screenshot above. Head to that area and speak with the bandit hunter, Nil. He will tell you about the first bandit camp at Devil’s Thirst and also place it on your map. Head to the location to speak with Nil again and enter the camp.
There is a single alarm, 2 prisoners you can free and a loot room in the center on the second floor. Watch for the snipers in the towers, otherwise this is a simple and straightforward stealth kill mission.
The Hollow Fort Bandit Camp can be found in the North East area of the map. It’s easily complete following the Devil’s Grief story mission as they are both close. This is one of the toughest early on as it features 6-7 Elite human enemies as well as a small army of normal enemies. As with previous camps be sure to locate and disarm the alarm, take out the snipers and I highly suggest you learn the Leader Strike perk beforehand.
There’s a couple of prisoners here on the upper level, no alarm. There’s a single Elite human enemy with a large gun, other than that it’s pretty simple. You get 5,000 Experience Points for clearing the Bandit Camp.
There’s another quest associated with the Gatelands Bandit Camp. Just North West of the Bandit Camp there is a campfire. Nil is standing nearby. Speak with him and he will inform you of the Gatelands Bandit Camp to the South East.
It’s not a very challenging one. There’s a single Elite enemy human and normal enemies. There is an alarm on the very South edge of the camp so be wary of that on your approach. You get 10,000 Experience Points for clearing the camp. A merchant and a few other NPC’s move in after it is cleared.
Another quest here, at Aloy’s point. Speak with Nil there to begin the Shattered Kiln Bandit Camp quest. This is a very large camp that features several towers on the outskirts. You can use Precision Arrows to take down the snipers very easily. There’s a few Elite enemies but nothing you should struggle with by this point. I didn’t locate any alarms or prisoners. A Merchant and campfire open when you complete the camp.
This is another huge camp. It’s very basic, by this point you should be killing everything with a single headshot. There are two prisoners on the South East side. There’s also a big loot pile in the center of the camp, right on the Bandit Camp sign itself, on the map. There’s an alarm here too, South center of the camp. A Merchant moves in and the campfire is now available
You get 10,000 Experience Points.
That’s all the Bandit Camps in Horizon Zero Dawn. If you successfully clear all Bandit Camps in Horizon Zero Dawn you will get a special side quest from Nil, Cause for Concern – Farewell.
