Some Pokemon evolve through leveling, others require special evolution stones, and some (Like Espeon and Umbreon) also need a certain friendship level with their owner. Friendship is a hidden bond between Pokemon and Pokemon trainer. Bond increases through battles, playing with Pokemon, and exploring together.

Checking your Pokemon’s friendship level is very easy. Travel to Hammerlocke. Near the Pokemon Center, a short walk to the East, there is a small building with a young family inside. Head inside the building and speak with the small boy at the front of the room, the one with the blonde hair and blue shirt.

Then you can select a Pokemon to check its current friendship level with you. There’s also a Soothe Bell in here, which is great for making a Pokemon better friends.
