Before you have the equipment needed to interact with these platforms you need to unlock a Scavenger character. An easy Scavenger character to unlock is Rey. You can unlock Rey by playing through Episode VII of LEGO Star Wars Skywalker Saga. About 15-20 minutes into the level you will control Rey and have to find some scrap. This is where you learn how to use Scavenger characters.

Once you have completed this tutorial segment you unlock the different tools available to Scavengers. One such tool is the net. Simply approach the bottom of walls with the X object on them and you will see the option to interact. Use the net on the wall and it becomes a surface you’re able to climb.
