If you want to dismantle items for crafting in Everspace 2, you will need to track down a specific item. You need to find and buy a Cargo Unit. At the beginning of the game, you’re introduced to various aspects of Everspace 2 via primary story missions. Following these missions will take you to various systems, planets, and other places to discover. The first three you are told to visit have 2 Trading Outposts within two of the systems. Simply head to one of the Trading Outposts and select the shop and then buy a Cargo Unit. This increases your carrying capacity, unlocks crafting, and allows you to dismantle items.
