Recruiting new Troops in Gears Tactics is free. Sometimes random troops will appear in your recruitment pool, other times characters you have just rescued on a mission will appear and be able to be recruited. The ones you rescue in missions are usually of a higher level and with better equipment. As it’s free to recruit new soldiers, it’s a good idea to always recruit soldiers that appear at higher levels.

How To Fire Soldiers In Gears Tactics

This is because of the gear they may carry. I recruited a level 3 Sniper that came with gun upgrades much better than Mikayla’s. Stripping him down, I drastically improved Mikayla’s critical damage and critical hit rate ability, before sending our new friend out to the wolves. It’s a bit cut throat but you’ve got to get by.

Anyway, firing soldiers is very simple and quick. Go to the Barracks option and stop there. Don’t select any soldiers, troops, heroes, anything, just highlight the character you want to fire. When a character is highlighted in the barracks a small trash can icon appears next to their name and the word “Delete”. Simple select that option and the character is deleted.

Important note, all gear and progress with that character is gone. They will leave and never return. Always make sure to check the equipment of new recruits before letting them go as there’s often valuable, strong upgrades to be had free of charge. Well, a bit of guilt when you send them back into the world naked, but we can handle that.
