When you are exploring your island you will sometimes see balloons floating in the sky above and attached, a wonderful present box. These boxes do not land, and will continue to float across the landscape until they go out of view. If you leave the game, enter a building, or otherwise travel to another location, they will vanish and not be there when you return. As such, you will need the appropriate tools with you at all times if you hope to pop the balloons and get the present.
How To Get Balloon Presents In Animal Crossing New Horizons
It’s a good idea to have already unlocked the Vaulting Pole, this let’s you get across rivers and streams. However, it is not a requirement, just something you may need if the present manages to float across the river.
The item you must have is called the Slingshot. You can buy either the Slingshot itself or a DIY Recipe from the shop in the Residents area – the area with the large tent and huge campfire. The Slingshot doesn’t require any ammo to use, it’s simply another tool you can equip and use at will.
When the Slingshot is equipped and you attempt to use it, it will aim directly above you. As such, you must position yourself underneath the balloon directly. Then, take your shot. If you are accurate the balloon will pop and the present will drop to the ground.
