Getting Jirachi is relatively quick and incredibly easy, you can unlock it a couple of hours after you start the game. However, there is a catch. Before you are able to get Jirachi you will need to have save data from Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield. This means that your Nintendo Switch, the same Switch you are using to play Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl, must have save data from either Sword or Shield, on the same console. If it’s not on the same profile you will not be able to claim the legendary Pokemon Jirachi.

To claim Jirachi simply head to Floaroma Town. Following the main story you get your first gym badge and then shortly after you encounter Team Galactic for the first time. After this encounter the story tells you to travel to Floaroma Town. Once you arrive, search the West side of the town for an elderly couple standing together.

If you speak to the elderly lady you will unlock Mew. If you speak to the elderly man, he will give you Jirachi.
