Usually, in previous Pokemon games, you would need to find a Fishing Rod to catch a Magikarp. However, in both versions of Pokemon Let’s Go, you can get a Magikarp right near the start of the game without having to do any fishing or searching.

How To Get Magikarp In Pokemon Let’s Go

For this simple method, head to Route 4. Just before you enter Mount Moon there is a Pokemon Center. Inside the Pokemon Center, to the left of the desk, there is a man that is willing to sell you a Magikarp for 500 money. Speak with him and purchase the Magikarp to have one added to your Pokedex.

The type of Magikarp you get is random. You can get Huge or Tiny ones, and the nature and stats are different so if you’re a huge Gyarados fan, save the game and try a few times to get the Magikarp you want.
