Early in your Ori adventure your progress will be blocked by piles of twigs. In this guide we explain How To Get Past Piles Of Twigs In Ori And The Will Of The Wisps as it’s a reoccurring mechanic that will often require you to find nearby resources to free the blockades in the path ahead.
Staying true to its metroidvania roots, Ori and the Will of the Wisps features many different types of obstacles and blockades that obstruct your path. Some are simple puzzles, able to be solved on the spot and allowing you to continue your progress. Others require you to venture deeper into the game and return later with newfound powers that grant access to previously inaccessible areas.
How To Get Past Piles Of Twigs In Ori And The Will Of The Wisps
You first encounter piles of twigs on the Inkwater Marsh map. It’s one of the very first obstacles you encounter, but it’s not difficult to solve it in this particular area. You need to find a torch. This are readily available throughout much of the game but for this particular area, you need to find a torch in order to continue your progress.
You will find the torch where Ori is standing in the image above. It’s not far from the Spirit Gate. It’s a large, stone-like furnace that houses a single torch. Pick up the torch with X. You can then use X to swing the torch at enemies or piles of twigs. A few swings on the piles of twigs is enough to destroy them, removing them permanently and freeing your path ahead.
Be careful once you have a torch. Some areas have limited numbers and if the torch becomes wet, when you pass under a waterfall for example, the torch will be destroyed. A short while later you will unlock the ability to attack normally so it’s not a big problem in the later stages of the game.
