Although the story objective is specifically targeting Kubfu, this method works to increase friendship with any Pokemon, and it’s very fast too. It’s a method that was previously available in Sword & Shield but the addition of a new special type of tree makes it much quicker and much easier to do in the Isle of Armor DLC.

You need to head here, to the Workout Sea. There is a small island here, this is also the location of a Ditto Den. On this island is a single berry tree but it’s not like other berry trees. This particular tree drops a certain type of berry.

When you shake this tree it drops Tamato Berries. When you feed Pokemon these berries, it only takes 4 or 5 to reach max, it will increase their friendship with you. Don’t worry about the stat reduction, especially on Kubfu, it has no effect unless you have been training EV’s of Pokemon.

Simply head to the island and shake the tree. Grab the Tamato berries and then use 4-5 of them on Kubfu, this will increase its friendship to maximum in just a few seconds, making it easy to complete the objective and move on the with the story.
