You can unlock additional inventory space shortly after reaching Eos, the first planet. After you colonize the planet, choosing between the science or military outpost, you are introduced to the AVP system on the Nexus. During the game completing missions and side content, such as Additional Tasks and Heleus Missions will reward you with AVP points. These can be spent to release additional Cryo pods and earn bonuses.
