There are tons of Heroes you can unlock and recruit in the game. This King Arthur: Knight’s Tale Character Unlock Guide tells you everything you need to know about each character we’ve unlocked so far including how to unlock them, their class type, and associated Traits.
There are multiple paths you can follow in King Arthur: Knight’s Tale. Some characters are locked behind specific Morality choices in the game. You can check the in-game Morality menu for more information but we’ll outline which characters you can and cannot recruit depending on your alignment. We do not include Mordred or Sir Kay in the list below as you start the game with both of these Heroes unlock.
Remember, unless you are playing on Story difficulty, death is permanent. Save often. At least, that’s what the game tells you, but you can actually revive dead heroes with a certain item. There are also several Heroes I didn’t unlock as I went Rightful/Christian. Check the Morality Chart for information on the other Heroes unlocked via Morality.
King Arthur: Knight’s Tale Character Unlock Guide – ACT I
Complete the “Among the Ruins” quest during Act I to unlock this Hero. This is part of the story, the first mission you get when you leave the starter dungeon. Lady Dindraine is an archer that focuses on ranged attacks. She can also unlock abilities to detect traps.
Complete the “Bridge of Sorrow” mission during Act I. This is part of the story and cannot be missed. You must complete the mission and then give the bridge to Sir Balin. Check out our choices and consequences guide for more info. You can keep the bridge for yourself if you want to recruit both characters
This is during the “Bridge of Sorrow” mission also. At the end of the mission, you need to decide who to give the bridge to. If you give the bridge to Sir Balan, he will join the Round Table as one of your knights. You can also make the decision to keep the bridge for yourself. Sir Balan will still join you but Sir Balin will not threaten you like he does with the other choice.
Recruiting Sir Balan can bring up an event later that costs 400 gold otherwise you lose a lot of Loyalty, so don’t spend all your cash.
Complete the side mission “Treachery”. It’s level 3 and appears at the Dungeons of Camelot, outside of Camelot, during the story. After you complete Sir Yvain’s mission. At the end of the mission you need to challenge Sir Lanval to a duel and then listen to Sir Kay and he will explain that Sir Lanval is worthy. You need to select option 3 for Sir Lanval to join.
After you complete The Cursed Ship story mission, you will unlock Side Mission The Haunted Forest at Forbidden Keep. Complete the Side Mission to unlock this hero.
After you complete the first mission in Act II, you will unlock The Sadness of Sir Tegyr Side Mission at Ashdown. Complete the Side Mission to recruit this hero.
After completing The Sadness of Sir Tegyr Side Mission, another unlocks. You need to complete the level 8 Side Mission, The Curse of Sir Bors, at the Needle Tower, to unlock this character. When you encounter the Pict Camp, don’t select the choice to let them kill Sir Bors.
After you finish the first story mission in Act II, this Side Mission unlocks. You need to complete the level 7 Side Mission, The Knight of Thorns, to recruit this character.
This character is in a Side Mission. For the Side Mission to appear, you need to reach the appropriate spot on the Rightful branch of the Morality Chart.
You need to reach the appropriate level in Christian Morality for the White Knight Side Mission to appear, and then complete The Return of the White Knight. It’s level 9 and must be in at least ACT II.
You unlock this Hero by completing the Level 9 Story Mission during ACT II, The Witch Queen. At the end of the mission, you can choose to side with her or Merlin. If you choose her, you unlock her as a character.
Merlin is also party of the Level 9 Story Mission during ACT II, The Witch Queen. At the end of the mission you must choose either your mother or Merlin, if you want Merlin to join the Round Table, you need to side with him in the fight.
This Hero can be unlocked by completing The Cauldron, a level 10 Side Mission in the Ashdown location. You must have Lady Guinevere on your Round Table to be able to do this Side Mission.
There is a level 10 Side Mission called The Atonement of Sir Lucan at the Thistlewood Ruins during ACT II. Complete the Side Mission and you will unlock this Hero.
King Arthur: Knight’s Tale Character Unlock Guide – ACT III
During the story mission, Beyond the Veil, you will get a choice at the end of the mission to recruit either Sir Gawain or Faerie Knight. Sir Gawain is a very strong tank but it takes him 3 Skill Points to learn active skills.
During the Beyond the Veil mission, you can choose to either recruit Faerie Knight or Sir Gawain. You get to play with the Faerie Knight throughout this mission so you should be familiar with his abilities.
Through Knight's Tale you can make a variety of different choices that impact the game.
