The Surge Field Technician (Lynx) Or Heavy Operator (Rhino)
Shortly after you begin your journey in The Surge you’ll have to choose your class. This The Surge Field Technician (Lynx) Or Heavy Operator (Rhino) guide will tell you the differences between the two choices and the impact they will have on your experience.
The Surge Field Technician (Lynx) Or Heavy Operator (Rhino)
When you begin playing The Surge you’ll have a brief introduction to the story and then some time as you move towards assignment. When you reach your destination your given the choice. You can choose between the agile, versatile, Lynx-like Field Technician or the brute, persistent, Rhino, the Heavy Operator. This is basically a decision on which starting equipment you’ll receive at the very beginning of the game.
If You Choose The Field Technician (Lynx)
The Lynx is meant for more speedy attacks and dodging. You will start off with 100 HP and 85 Stamina. When you get your Power Core you will get the LYNX Arm Gear and LYNX Leg Gear but only one of each. You also get the crafting schematics for creating the LYNX leg and arm pieces. The LYNX Arm Gear has Low Stability, 2 Core Consumption and +3% to Attack Speed. The Lynx Leg Gear has low Stability, 2 Power Consumption, -20% Stamina consumption when running and -10% Stamina consumption when dodging.
If You Choose The Heavy Operator (Rhino)
The Rhino is meant to be more durable and deal more damage but it’s a lot slower and harder to use. You also start with 100 HP and 85 Stamina. Once you progress through and get the Power Core you then get schematics for Rhino Arm Gear and Rhino Leg Gear, again one of each. The Rhino Arm Gear has High Stability, 3 Core Power Consumption, +30% Impact and -4% Attack Speed. The Rhino Leg Gear has High Stability, 3 Core Power Consumption, +5% Stamina Consumption when running and +5% Stamina Consumption when dodging.
It’s worth noting that the Field Technician (Lynx) gear is available very early in the game whereas the Rhino equipment isn’t available until the 2nd area.
