What Does The Yellow Plus Icon Next To Weapons Mean In Final Fantasy XV

The very first weapon you get that has a yellow plus icon is the Engine Blade. You begin your journey with this weapon however, the game tutorial on weapon upgrades in Final Fantasy XV doesn’t come until much later. As you continue through the story you will eventually find a Drain Lance during a mission where you return to the Capital. It’s on the floor directly in your path so you cannot miss it. This is the Drain Lance. When you collect this item the game explains what the yellow plus icon means.

All weapons with a yellow plus icon can be upgraded to become MUCH more powerful. Once you’ve obtained the Drain Lance you can return to Cid at Hammerhead and he will give you quests for each of the upgradeable weapons you have in your possession.
