HITMAN

HITMAN
Hitman is the sixth entry in the Hitman series, and serves as a prequel to the series. Developed by series veterans IO Interactive, it is, as with previous games in the series, a third-person stealth game in which players control Agent 47 and use creativity to dispatch targets however they please.

Agent 47, the titular Hitman, is an operative of the International Contract Agency, supported by his handler, Diana Burnwood. Over the course of the game, he travels across the world, taking on assassination contracts to eliminate his targets. Hitman features a completely open sandbox for each level, including a completely reactive world where the actions of non-player characters and the environment matters a great deal. A news report might innocuously aid Agent 47 in discovering the location of his target, for instance. The level design of the game hearkens back to Hitman: Blood Money, as opposed to the more linear level design from Hitman: Absolution. The game also features maps 6-7 times bigger than the biggest levels of Absolution, and which accommodate around 300 non-player characters, of which every non-player character has a name. Another notable change is the dropping of the checkpoint system of Hitman: Absolution, instead allowing players to save their game whenever they wish during missions.

Players are free to approach missions entirely as they see fit, and are frequently required to react to changing circumstances and situations. The game features a wide variety of weaponry to use, from ranged weapons like sniper rifles, to explosives to melee weapons like axes and katanas. Apart from brute force, the game encourages use of imagination by having the players use creative methods in play, such as using disguises of fallen enemies to infiltrate an area. Depending on their performance over the course of a mission, players are awarded new gadgets.

The game is also notably a semi-episodic experience, with content drops expected through the release year, evolving the story arc further and engaging the community with it. Hitman notably features time-bound missions which will be released by the developers as events that the players must complete within a specified time, or the players risk never being able to complete the mission again. Hitman also features the Contracts mode, and players can create scenarios and set assassination targets, which can then be shared with friends and other players.
