Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance
Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance is already the seventh installment in the popular Japanese role playing game series. It features the fascinating world based on a crossover between the universes created by Disney and Square Enix. The game is quite similar to the previous ones and uses many old solutions that have been proven to work. The new Kingdom Hearts is published on Nintendo 3DS, though, so it also introduces many new, interesting mechanisms enabled by the new gaming system.
The story is about the fate of Sora and Riku, two characters well-known to the fans of the series. They are chosen by Yen Sid and Mickey to become new masters of Keyblade. Having accepted the new function, they have to try and stop Master Xehanort who is a great danger to the whole world. Partially, the story is a continuation of the story arc taken from Kingdom Heart: Re-Coded which was published on Nintendo DS. In Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance we still engage into dynamic, action-packed encounters with enemies. All fights are fought in real time as they always were, but Square Enix can brag about some novelties they managed to implement.
One of those is the presence of various skills that the characters can acquire in order to explore the world in a better, more detailed way so that they can discover needed secret passages. A new energy bar called Drop Gauge has been added to the combat system. It lets the players use special attacks and special effects. Thanks to being published on Nintendo 3DS, the game is of course full of three dimensions. Kingdom Hearts still hasn’t lost any of its atmosphere though. It stays full of dialogues taken from Disney cartoons and in full of climatic people and places.
