Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster is the HD port of Resident Evil Zero, appearing for the first time on platforms such as PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, along with the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Much like the Resident Evil HD Remaster, the HD version of Resident Evil 0 features wide-screen support, going from the original’s 4:3 ratio to a widescreen 16:9 ratio, including CG cutscenes. If players wish, however, they can retain the original 4:3 ratio. The release will feature all-new high resolution graphics that have been created from scratch, while meticulously preserving the appearance and detail of the original. The PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions also feature 1080p resolution support. This release features fully remastered sound effects, including support for 5.1 surround sound; and a new, alternative control scheme in which players move directly with the direction of the analogue stick, as opposed to the original “tank” control scheme (which is also optionally available). New sound features include the option to change the dynamic range preset to match the player’s listening environment.
The game includes the new Wesker Mode, a game mode in which players can play as Resident Evil character Albert Wesker from his Resident Evil 5 incarnation. This mode is unlocked when the player finishes the game, and has Wesker replace Billy as Rebecca’s partner, while Rebecca herself gets a Wesker-inspired costume makeover. Thanks to the Uroboros virus, the pair has gained superhuman abilities, allowing them to take down enemies with ease and giving players a chance to experience in the game in a wholly original way. Wesker can use ‘Death Stare’ to unleash a powerful blast from his red eyes. The attack can furthermore be charged for increased damage. Wesker also has the Shadow Dash Move, allowing him to move at lightning-fast speeds.
Resident Evil 0 is a prequel to the original Resident Evil, and takes player back to 1998 in Raccoon City, which has been the site of unusual murders. The city’s special forces division S.T.A.R.S. dispatches their Bravo Team to investigate. The helicopter Bravo Team is on crashes, and the team is forced to search the area, where Rebecca Chambers, one of the members of Bravo Team, finds death row convict and ex-Navy lieutenant Billy Coen. Players can freely switch between Rebecca and Billy to take advantage of the unique abilities of each, and this switching is usually necessary to proceed through the game’s puzzles.
