Skylanders
Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure is an interesting new game featuring Spyro, a cute dragon who is already 16 years old. There were a lot of games published under this franchise but Skylanders is a truly fresh and original one, connecting a typical video game with the use of plastic toys. It took more than 2 years to complete the game, previously planned as Spyro’s Kingdom. Alek Sokolow and Joel Cohen, scriptwriters of Toy Story, took care of the story featured in the game. They collaborated with Activition who owns the rights to Spyro. The game is supposed to serve as a connection between the real world and the virtual one. The main story arc revolves around evil doings of sneaky Kaos.
Using one of the Portals of Power, the bandit manages to transfer Spyro and all his friends into the human world, where they got changed into action figures. Their only hope of going back home is a burden of the Masters of Portals: in this role, the player. As in a typical platformer, the game is full of elements of skill and logical puzzles. Abundant enemies serve as a challenge, too, trying to impede Spyro from completing his missions, finding the hidden treasure and gathering gold. There is as much as thirty two action figures and they are the main thing about the game. Each of them lets the player unlock one hero who uses one element like fire, water or earth and lets us enter his specific locations.
When you buy the game, you get a Portal of Power, a special docking station you plug into your console. A figure put onto the station automatically unlocks a new character. Inside of it, our game’s data is saved, too. Putting a second figure on the docking station lets us play in a multiplayer mode.
