Several quality-of-life adjustments and new features have been included to improve the gameplay experience. Updates include character speed boosts, a retro display mode, adjustable screen magnification, commemorative music and illustrations. A special anniversary song by composer Kenji Ito (Across the “Sa・Ga,”) eight different in-game wallpapers, and the choice to play with either Japanese or English text has also been included.

Finally, players can detach the Joy-Con controllers and hold the console vertically to replicate the Nintendo Game Boy experience.
