Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Battle and Monster Recruitment System Detailed

Learn more about how players will be able to become the master of Monsterkind with the latest battle and monster recruitment information for Square Enix’s Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince.

In order to grow one’s roster of monsters (over 500 in all!), one’s “Show of Force” comes into play. This gives players the chance to persuade monsters to join your cause through the clever use of items. Synthesis also gives players the chance to combine two parent monsters into a new one.

Note that small monsters take up one team slot, while large monsters take up two. Large monsters have higher attributes than their small counterparts, and can also act multiple times per round during each battle. Monsters are also assigned one of nine different ranks, with Rank X ruling the roost.

The game will come out for the Nintendo Switch on December 1. Those who pre-order the title can get themselves the Head Start Set, which includes The Mole Hole / Gothic Vestment, Coach Joe’s Dungeon Gym / Cake-Maker’s Clobber, and Treasure Trunks / Monstrous Mail.
