We’re not even through the first day of PAX East 2014 and there’s already some incredibly exciting news leaking through the cracks. Earlier today Blizzard announced a huge content update heading to its critically-acclaimed MMOTCG, introducing a number of new elements including a new single player campaign, new cards and a new board.
The first of many planned Adventure Mode’s has been revealed as the Curse of Naxxramas, A Hearthstone Adventure. The ancient necropolis Naxxramas serves as the base of operations for the infamous lich Kel’Thuzad and with it, hordes of the undead at his bidding. The new Adventure Mode is a single player PvE adventure that will be made available to all Hearthstone players. It will include 5 unique wings, scaling in difficult as players progress. Players will have the opportunity to expand their Hearthstone deck if they have the skill to take down the myriad of bosses on offer with the release of
the Curse of Naxxramas.
Once players have earned the cards through the completion of Curse of Naxxramas they’ll be able to add them to previously constructed decks and use them in all future decks. Blizzard announced that a massive 30 brand new cards will be introduced. They gave a sneak peak at some of the cards in the official announcement:
New Hearthstone Cards Coming With The Curse of Naxxramas
As previously mentioned the single player Adventure Mode will be formed of a single dungeon consisting of different wings. Completing each wing promises a guaranteed new Legendary Card to add to your deck, quite the reward.
Curse of Naxxramas will also feature a brand new game board, complete with the interactive corners seen in currently available Hearthstone maps. And finally, Class Challenges. 9 unique challenges will debut alongside the Curse of Naxxramas release, testing your skills with each specific class and promising class-specific cards as a reward.
Curse of Naxxramass will release over a 5 week period, releasing a new wing each week until the full list of 5 are available. The first wing will be available to all players free of charge, with additional wings costing real money OR in-game gold to unlock.
