Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today confirmed the upcoming release of Middle-earth: Shadow of War, the sequel to the critically acclaimed Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor following leaks made late last week from retailer Target. Monolith Productions’ original entry into the Lord of the Rings universe was met with huge critical praise as Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor scooped up a number of prestigious awards including 2015 Game Developers Choice Awards’ Game of the Year, Outstanding Innovation in Gaming at the 2015 D.I.C.E. Awards and the BAFTA for Game Design.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War will feature an all-new original story as Talion and Celebrimbor make a return in a new battle behind enemy lines, forging an army to turn the tides on the Dark Lord, Sauron. The announcement is accompanied by the official reveal trailer, check it out below:
The open-world action-adventure gameplay makes a return as players enter a battle wielding a new Ring of Power as they battle new and powerful enemies, including Sauron and his dreaded Nazguk. The award-winning Nemesis system will make a return in glorious fashion as the system is “now applied to the entire world where the environments and characters are all shaped by player actions and decisions, creating a personal world unique to every gameplay experience”.
