Paper Mario: The Origami King Gets Closer Look in New Trailer

Get a first look at the characters and discoveries of Nintendo’s Paper Mario: The Origami King with the latest trailer for the title.

In this title, the nefarious King Olly has moved Peach’s Castle. He has a devious plot to fold the world, but Mario is here to save the day with his different paper techniques. As he sets out on his journey, he must untie the bundle of massive streamers binding the castle. Along the way, he’ll visit raging rapids, an ancient ruin, underground sewers, a ninja-filled mansion and a desert oasis.

A number of characters will also make their appearance in Paper Mario: The Origami King. These include a Bob-omb that has lost his memory, the Toad professor of ancient history, and the Magikoopa Kamek. Mario can also get a helping hand from the good natured Olivia, who is the sister of King Olly. Even Bowser himself will join the fray.

To make quick work of baddies, Paper Mario: The Origami King will utilize a ring-based battle system that has players lining up enemies and executing well-timed attacks. This factors into when Mario should stomp enemies, when Mario whacks them with a hammer, and when to use items or heals. An audience of cheering Toads can also help with different battle aides. His foes include the Legion of Stationery, which are themed around elements like colored pencils, sticky tape, and rubber bands.

When not in battle, Mario can investigate suspicious spots to uncover hidden items, toss confetti to fix up holes, find hidden Toads, play mini-games, and discover secrets and treasures.
