Red Dead Redemption 2 Animal Species Detailed

Red Dead Redemption 2 - Gamers Heroes
Ahead of its release next month, Rockstar Games has released some new information regarding the approximately 200 species of animals that will live in the world of Red Dead Redemption 2.

The development team went the extra mile when crafting the birds, animals, and fish of Red Dead Redemption 2, as they all respond and behave to their environment in their own unique way. For instance, those visiting the plains can see the pronghorn, bison, and deer traveling together in herds, while those near water can see the sockeye salmon leaping upstream.

Other highlights include scavengers sniffing out different carrion, wolves trapping their prey by hunting in packs, possums playing dead, grizzly bears bluff charging once they are threatened, birds of prey soaring on different thermals, and even rodents scampering into different tree hollows.

Fans can learn more about this complex ecosystem here. Players can then hunt and fish these animals, and are given the choice to immediately skin and butcher them, or take them with you whole. Players can then make the most of the animal’s parts, skins, meat and even entire carcasses.

The game will come out for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26.
