Hacking Attempt On The War Z Warns Players “This Company Is Just Stealing Your Money”
Captain Camper has been enjoying his foray into the world of The War Z, so much so that he’s even managed to snag a couple of interviews with Sergey Titov and Tyler Sparks, but earlier today something a little unexpected happened as he tried to log in to the official forums to check the feedback from his latest interview.
The War Z Forums Hacked With A Warning Message?
The War Z has had one of the strangest alpha periods that I’ve ever experienced as an MMO veteran of over a decade. I’ve seen games come and go, I’ve seen some make waves while others fall as mere pebbles in the vast ocean that is the MMO industry, but I’ve never seen a game surrounded by so much doubt and rumor, well unless you count Half Life 3 and Duke Nukem Forever.
It all began after developers updated their ToS document with a direct copy and paste to that of the League of Legends version, currently one of the most popular games on the planet. This spawned quite the speculation on the official forums, as well as a variety of popular gaming websites and forums. Following this the developers would use curse words on the forums, Facebook and Twitter profile. Not exactly a nail in the coffin but some found it to lack a certain level of professionalism that is required to market such a product. Continuing forward, many critics argued that the games screenshots were highly misleading, advertising features that would never be supported in the game.
So what next? Well as you can see from the image above, I have been banned from the official forums with this reason “This company is only trying to steal your money”, there is also not a chance of an automatic unlock as I have been banned permanently. It appears the official forums have been hacked by a currently unknown source as a large number of posts have been deleted and the user accounts have been rolled back.
Despite the best efforts of the development team, hacking is quite a big problem within the game, but this is the first time the forums have been compromised. Everything is up and running as normal although a few of the older posts have been removed.
