Super Mario RPG joins Tetris 99 Starting November 9

Based on the upcoming Super Mario RPG release for the Nintendo Switch, The Tetris 99 36th MAXIMUS CUP will kick off November 9.

Running from November 9 to November 13, Nintendo Switch Online members can participate by playing the Tetris 99 online mode during this time. Players will then be able to earn themselves event points based on placement; with those accumulating a total of 100 event points unlocking a new theme.

Said theme will feature background art, music, and Tetrimino designs inspired by the upcoming release of Super Mario RPG.

Meanwhile, Super Mario RPG will have players taking control of Mario and his friends as they set out to save Star Road and stop the Smithy Gang. Updated from the Super Nintendo original, this Nintendo Switch release will feature updated graphics and cinematics when it comes out on November 17.

Meanwhile, Tetris 99 is a competitive online version of the iconic puzzle game. Players are tasked with rotating and moving Tetrriminos to complete horizontal lines. However, new to this release are Garbage Blocks, with fill the screens of foes and make it that much more difficult for them to clear lines.
