The Biggest Announcements From the September 2021 Nintendo Direct

Bayonetta 3

Originally announced in 2017, the first look at PlatinumGames’ Bayonetta 3 was shown. Set to release in 2022, Bayonetta now possesses a new Demon Masquerade ability that allows her to channel the power of demons.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land

A 3D platforming adventure, Kirby and the Forgotten Land has the titular Kirby exploring a world that features abandoned structures from a past civilization.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct

Discover what new content will make its way to Animal Crossing: New Horizons in November when the latest direct for the game airs in October.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak

Set to release next summer, this paid expansion to Monster Hunter Rise will bring with it new locales, stories, monsters, hunting actions, and quest rank.

Splatoon 3

The Story Mode for Splatoon 3, dubbed “Return of the Mammalians,” will have the world of the Inklings get a lot hairier. A number of new weapons will also make their way to Splatsville’s multiplayer Turf Wars.

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack

Set to release in late October, Nintendo 64 and SEGA Genesis will make their way to the service as part of a new membership plan. Details on pricing, timing, and more will be revealed at a later date.

Super Mario Bros. Animated Film

Heading to theaters in North America on December 21, 2022, the voice cast for the Super Mario Bros. animated film has been revealed. Highlights include Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, and Jack Black as Bowser.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Fighter

The last DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be revealed during a Direct on October 5 at 7am PT.

Chocobo GP

Following up the PlayStation 1 release of Chocobo Racing, Square Enix’s Chocobo GP will feature Final Fantasy and Chocobo tracks, complete with Magicite and special character abilities. The game will come out in 2022.

Mario Party Superstars

Woody Woods, Yoshi’s Tropical Island, and Horror Land are the three latest boards that will be added to Mario Party Superstars. The game will come out on October 29.
