Titles that are Xbox Series X Optimized take full advantage of the capabilities of the Xbox Series X. This applies to both new titles that have been built natively using the system’s development environment, along with previously released rebuilt specifically for the console.
Producer Jacek Zięba of Bloober Team (Blair Witch) spoke about optimizing their upcoming title The Medium for Xbox Series X with Xbox Wire Editor in Chief Will Tuttle. He mentioned that his team is able to develop the game the way they have always envisioned it, both from a graphical and gameplay standpoint. He also mentioned that the SSD of the console will allow the development team to create a more cinematic and atmospheric experience.
The development team will also make use of a 4K resolution and DirectX Raytracing as enhancement areas for The Medium. According to Zięba, the resolution will showcase the art style and environment of its spirit world, while the Ray-tracing will add to its atmosphere.
