A haunted mansion gets a lot more romantic with the release of Janbeh Games’ cozy management sim Love, Ghostie. Is love in the cards for these manor residents, or is the end result truly frightening?

As a new member of the afterlife, players are guided by the mentor Ghostina. A firm believer that kindness is cool – and dad jokes – she grants players the hallowed profession of matchmaker at a busy manor.
From there, players can choose who moves in to these hallowed halls, each packing their own temperament. From grungy giraffes to short (yet mighty!) cats, players will be all too eager to learn more about what makes each one tick.
Each resident of Love, Ghostie’s manor is full of surprises. Coming from different temperaments and backgrounds (with convenient tags signifying each), it’s up to players to make sure these denizens get along and bond through gifts, easy-breezy chores (divvied up into self-care, house helping, and “definitely not-a-date”), and other ghostly shenanigans.
Love, Ghostie’s lighthearted tale is more treats than tricks, which is just the way we like it. Players are given a number of ghost action points each day that lets players choose what to do. From stealing goodies to handling the prep for said job board, players will definitely have their hands full during each in-game day.
Don’t worry about it feeling like a 9-5, however; the afterlife has no time for that. Rather, things move at a fast quip, with the occasional visit to eep!Bay or Deaddit to break things up and get that coveted pickle in a cage.
We appreciated this approach, loving our gift stealing/gifting shenanigans and checking the happiness of each character. There’s a bit of management when it comes to the tags and who likes what, but our type-A personalities quickly fell in love with our matchmaking.
Love, Ghostie’s incredibly sharp writing seals the deal. Players can read the diaries in each room, see random interactions play out, and even go out for a night at the theater to see how outings pan out.
If anything, this variety is the spice of life in Love, Ghostie. We managed to see some truly unique scenarios play out, from bad times at cons to deftly crime cover-ups – we do have the dirt. With the sheer amount of shipping that goes on, we eagerly anticipated seeing what came next in Love, Ghostie.
Rounding things out in Love, Ghostie is a skill tree that is build on RelationChips (their pun, not ours). With this in place, players will be able to take advantage of a number of perks that then help to improve one’s overall experience in the Manor. Nothing revolutionary, but still welcome nonetheless.
