Fall is in full swing, and that means all of the season’s biggest games are coming out. On that note, here are 5 games we’re looking forward to in October. Oh, and we won’t make you click through five pages to look at the entire list.
5 Games We’re Looking Forward to in October
Middle-earth: Shadow of War
Developed by Monolith Productions and published by WB Games, Middle-earth: Shadow of War brings players into a lush world set between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. The game continues the story of the ranger Talion and the spirit of the elf lord Celebrimbor, and shows how they set out to forge a new Ring of Power to amass an army to fight against the evil Sauron. The Nemesis System from the original game has been expanded upon, and allows players to collect Followers, which have their behavior guided by previous interactions. We’re looking forward to exploring this open world and engaging in battle.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War will come out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 10, 2017.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole
The world of South Park meets the world of video games once again with the upcoming release of South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Featuring 12 superhero classes, players once again take control of the New Kid and can choose to either side with Coon and Friends or their rival group Freedom Pals. We’re looking forward to exploring the town of South Park once again, and also experiencing its surprisingly solid RPG elements.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole will come out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 17, 2017.
The Evil Within 2
Bethesda Softworks and Tango Gameworks are teaming up once again to release the horror-themed third-person shooter The Evil Within 2. Players take control of Sebastian Castellanos as he descends into the world of Union to rescue his daughter Lily. Compared to the original title, maps are much larger, and there are multiple ways to complete each level. We’re looking forward to diving into its world, and also utilizing the new item known as “The Communicator,” which highlights things in the world.
The Evil Within 2 will come out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 13, 2017.
Assassin’s Creed Origins
Ubisoft’s long running open world action-adventure series returns with the release of Assassin’s Creed Origins. The game stars a Medjay named Bayek, as he works to protect the people from a series of threats.
Players can explore Ancient Egypt on foot, horseback, camel-back, or boat, and can complete a wealth of optional side-quests to unlock weapons and equipment. We’re looking forward to diving into this game’s story, and also making the most of its new mechanics, which include an eagle companion.
Assassin’s Creed Origins will come out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 27, 2017.
Super Mario Odyssey
A return to form for Nintendo’s mustachioed platforming icon, Super Mario Odyssey has Mario traveling across different Kingdoms to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser, who plans on marrying her. Said Kingdoms includes both fantasy and realistic design, and all contain Moons which Mario can collect. Mario also has the ability to possess characters and objects by throwing his cap Cappy, which adds to the gameplay. We’re looking forward to collecting every last Moon, and getting absorbed into each world.
Super Mario Odyssey will come out for the Nintendo Switch on October 27, 2017.
What we at Gamers Heroes are looking forward to the most:
We at Gamers Heroes are looking forward to Super Mario Odyssey the most. The game takes elements from the more open-world entries like Super Mario 64, giving it some serious legs and replayability.
