Watch Dogs Announced As Launch Title For Playstation 4

Demonstrated onstage at Sony’s PlayStation 2013 meeting last night, Watch Dogs looks to be another ambitious title from the same developers as the hugely popular Assassins Creed III and Far Cry 3, Ubisoft. The developers are bringing an all-star cast to the table as Ubisoft Montreal take the lead, with big support from their Bucharest, Paris, Quebec and Reflection studios. Announced at E3 last year, Watch Dogs received over 80 awards and nominations, prompting many to label it as one of the most anticipated Playstation 4 titles so far.

“Ubisoft has a strong history of supporting new technologies with unique and creative offerings,” said Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer, Ubisoft. “The power and capability of the PS4 allows the Watch_Dogs team to further push the boundaries of what was previously thought possible in interactive entertainment.”

Players will get to experience the reality of a fully integrated society in an era where both individuals and corporations have become almost totally reliant on technology. Aiden Pearce takes the lead role as the vigilante protagonist; armed with this smartphone he attempts to hack into the central operating system that powers Chicago. Players will be able to hack into various cameras around the city, using the technology to locate targets, collect personal information and gather intel. Other forms of technology can be manipulated such as traffic lights or public transport.

Watch Dogs will launch alongside the Playstation 4 and will also be available on the PC; Wii U, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 video-game systems. Keep in the loop with the Watch Dogs official website, Facebook and Twitter pages.
