Sony’s E3 2014 Press Conference — Hulk Smash

Sony’s E3 press conferences are not without their technical hiccups — last year’s in particular saw a game-crashing bug during a live demo of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. This year was no exception — during a trailer for Bungie’s Destiny, The Incredible Hulk let out a roaring “Hulk smash!” at the most inopportune moment.

EA’s E3 2014 Press Conference — All the Feels

In honor of the upcoming Dragon Age: Inquisition, Electronic Arts had a stunning instrumental performance lined up for their conference. While the song went off without a hitch, BioWare’s GM Aaryn Flynn ruined the moment when he brought out “all the feels.” Memes are a tired form of humor, and this is no exception.

Nintendo Treehouse @ E3 2014 — The Co-hosts

Nintendo decided to forego a traditional press conference in favor of a pre-recorded digital event, meaning that the entirety of the footage was tailored to their specifications. However, their livestream of the E3 press conference (dubbed the “Nintendo Treehouse”) had two co-hosts that had zero charisma or on-camera experience. What followed were periods of awkward silence, interruptions, and odd segues.

Ubisoft’s Post-E3 2014 Conference Wrap-Up – Finding Random People (3:35)

Ubisoft’s press conference this year was pretty strong this year, with a strong performance from Aisha Tyler and a number of hot titles both old and new. However, once the event ended, a Ubisoft representative wanted to keep the excitement going by finding random conference goers and telling them they were random. Skip to 3:35 to watch it in action.

Casey Scheld has more than 15 years of experience in the gaming industry as a community manager, social media director, event specialist, and (of course) gaming editor. He has previously worked with gaming start-ups like Raptr, publishers like Konami, and roller derby girls at PAX West (check out Jam City Rollergirls)! Gamers Heroes is a passion project for him, giving him a chance to tap into the underground side of gaming. He is all too eager to give these lesser-known heroes of the indie space the attention they so rightly deserve, seeking out the next gem and sharing it with the world. Previously making appearances at events like CES, GDC, and (the late) E3, he is all too happy to seek out the next big thing.
